Literature Text

They tell us visiting hours are over
I turn to look at my lover
His face tells me all I need to know
I'm dying...painfully and slow
As tears run down his face
My heart begins to race
I want to kiss him one last time
To express our love before I die
They scream "No, its a sin!!!"
I yell back hoping they'll let him in
He cries outside...alone and afraid
Hoping, somehow, that I'll be saved
He drinks again to escape the pain
Tears and alcohol drop like rain
Our final wish was to die together
So that I'd be with him forever

And with the pulling of that plug
And the drinking of that mug
Our wish was granted
this is for the same-sex couples who aren't granted legal rights due to unfair and discriminatory laws
